Who says only Atlas could carry the world on his shoulders?
The woman of today can carry the world on her shoulders with the lamp of wisdom in her hands (That is the logo of Women's Political Forum). Her feminity invokes a natural instinct of warmth, protection and caring for her world around.
Women's Political Forum intends to change the visuals. It intends to bring about a change in the face of the present political scenario.
The Forum believes that women can give voice to their hopes and aspirations through an active role in governance and politics. It provides training and support for capable and aspiring women who have a burning desire to serve the nation through politics. Please come and speak to us to find out more about how your opinions and ideas can make a difference to the world around you.
WPF is an awareness drive to bring forward hitherto hidden women leadership for Political Governance. It was launched on March 8th, 2005 on the occasion of the International Women's Day, in Mumbai after a survey conducted during the Lok Sabha elections held that year, by the students of ‘Women in Political Governance’, a course conducted at S.P.Jain Institute of Management & Research with the initiatives of Times Foundation , DOCC (Development of Corporate Citizenship) and WMPP(women for peace &prosperity)
Almost All the Political Parties had a common woe " there are not enough women candidates. How do we give 33% reservation in our parties?"
Well their point was valid. We had discussions, meetings and interactions with organizations like AGNI, Womanist Party of India, Rotary Club, Lions Club, Housing Societies, ALMs, Jhuggi Jhopadi Sangs etc. and we found out that women do discuss the reservation issues and are very much for equal representation in governance, but when it comes to taking part in active Politics, they shy away are not so keen to come out for active participation.
The Reasons varied and we felt that these barriers need to be broken, else we shall go on crusading for equal representation in governance for another decade as the decades gone by, and the women folk will never be able to mark their place in Politics.
It is time, we stopped talking and discussing round the coffee table and got into action. The new generation should wake up now and sharpen their skills and stand up for a change in the present political scenario, to bring equity and equality in political governance. |
